APPARATUS SERVICE TECHNICIAN / MECHANIC
GREENFIELD, INDIANA 

Our growing business is looking to add an Apparatus Service Technician to assist at our Mid-State Office in Greenfield, IN. The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting and repairing apparatus and have a strong attention to detail with an aptitude for problem-solving. If you have prior experience in mechanic work, the fire service and a desire to expand your career, we want to hear from you.

 

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Conduct repairs and regular maintenance on machinery, systems, and apparatus.

  • Be able to understand (or find an answer) to customer concerns and identify the issue.

  • Assemble mechanical components according to specifications.

  • Examine machines and oversee diagnostic tests to determine functionality problems.

  • Design a plan of action for all maintenance tasks and upgrades.

  • Maintain work logs, repairs, and maintenance records.

  • Monitor inventory and order new parts when necessary.

  • Offer consultation on maintenance and preventative procedures to machine and vehicle users.

  • Perform apparatus assessments and alert clients on issues that will prohibit their apparatus from passing inspection.

  • ​Stay current on existing and emerging product and technologies.

  • Attend training classes to acquire service certifications, as well as industry trade shows. 

  • Report feedback from customers to service manager.

  • Maintain a professional / working image in self and work environment.

  • Develop an effective and productive working relationship with other service technicians, sales associates, customer service, and support personnel.

  • Complete proper documentation on a timely basis.

  • Maintain a clean work environment. 

  • Perform other duties as instructed or required to successfully complete the job.

 

Qualifications & Skills:​​

​

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role.

  • In-depth knowledge of apparatus diagnostic equipment and mechanical systems.

  • Strong attention to detail with an aptitude for problem-solving.

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

  • Demonstrated time management and organizational skills

  • Valid driver’s license and proven safe driving record.

Experience:​

  • Fire Service: (Preferred)

 

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent qualification.

  • Certification from a vocational school or trade school is preferred.

 

Office Location:

  • Greenfield, IN (East Side of Indianapolis)

 

Language:

  • English (Required)

 

Required travel:

  • 30% (Required)

 

Compensation:

  • Hourly
