SERVICE SHOP MANAGER - EMERGENCY VEHICLE & EQUIPMENT
GREENFIELD, INDIANA (East Side of Indianapolis)
Our established family-owned business is looking for a Service Shop Manager at our Mid-State Office on the east side of Indianapolis. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the inspection, maintenance, and repair of fire apparatus, and must have a strong attention to detail with an aptitude for problem-solving. Duties and responsibilities:

Supervise Service Technicians
-
Examine fire apparatus & equipment and oversee diagnostic tests to determine functionality problems.

Be able to understand customer concerns and identify the issue.

Learn and become familiar with manufacturer(s) specifications and procedures required to properly maintain the operation of fire apparatus and equipment

Design a plan of action for all necessary repairs and work to be completed.

Research, develop & generate a parts list required to affect the necessary repair.

Oversee repairs and preventative maintenance on fire apparatus & equipment as per manufacturer(s) recommendations.

Attend training classes to acquire & maintain necessary service certifications.

Stay current on existing and emerging products and technologies.

Properly complete service documentation for each job on a timely basis.

Offer consultation on maintenance and preventative procedures to customers.

Perform assessments on fire apparatus and equipment, and alert customers on issues that may affect the proper operation of same .

Report feedback from customers & technicians to Service Operations Manager.

Submit requisition report to Service Operations Manager for replacement parts/inventory.

Maintain a professional / working image in self and work environment.

Maintain a clean work environment.

Develop an effective and productive working relationship with Service Technicians, Sales Representatives, Customer Service, and support personnel.

Perform other duties as instructed or required to successfully complete the required work or as otherwise requested by Management.
Qualifications & Skills:​​

A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role or experience with similar duties and responsibilities.

In-depth knowledge of heavy truck or fire apparatus diagnostic equipment and mechanical systems or equivalent experience.

Strong attention to detail with an aptitude for problem-solving.

Effective communication and customer service skills.

Demonstrated time management and organizational skills

Valid driver’s license and proven safe driving record.

Fire Service (Preferred)

Shop Foreman/Manager and/or experienced technician (Preferred)

Heavy equipment operations and service experience (Preferred)
License/Certification:

CDL- Class B (Preferred)

Or must be willing to obtain within 3 months of hire date

Automotive Diesel & Truck Technology Training (Preferred)

Emergency Vehicle Technician (EVT) – Certification (Preferred)

Automotive Electrical Systems Training (Preferred)
Education:

High school diploma or equivalent qualification.

Certification from a vocational school or trade school (Preferred)

Primarily at Mid-State Facility – Greenfield, IN (East side of Indianapolis)

Occasional travel to HFE Valparaiso facility or customer locations
